1. The Horse
Doctrines: Power and Stability
Teachings: Associated with the physical body, the Horse provides the foundation for stances to generate power and redirect attacks. It is defensive in nature but becomes dangerously aggressive when cornered. It is the first system taught to early students at the Yellow and Orange Belt levels.

2. The Lion (and Great Lion)
Doctrines: Nobility of Character and Internal Strength
Teachings: Taught at the Purple Belt level, this animal represents the internal fortitude and noble spirit required as the student transitions into more advanced and dangerous combat techniques.

3. The Monkey (and Wise Monkey)
Doctrines: Dexterity and Nimbleness
Teachings: Taught at the Blue Belt level, the Monkey relies on a merry but unpredictable fighting composure. It utilizes intricate grabs, convoluted hops, and extreme balance in unconventional postures to mercilessly harass opponents into making tactical mistakes.

4. The Leopard (or Panther)
Doctrines: Swift Agility and Concealment
Teachings: Taught at the Green Belt level, it teaches the practitioner to be flexible and adaptable to various environments. The leopard walks with unobtrusive stealth to lull the enemy into a peaceful state, only to strike with vicious stealth from unexpected angles.

5. The Tiger
Doctrines: Ferocity and Tenacity
Teachings: Taught at the 2nd Brown Belt level, the Tiger is a highly violent and barbaric style. Its techniques rely on total commitment and are explosively designed to rip, gouge, claw, and break the opponent to maim or paralyze.

6. The Crane
Doctrines: Fluidness and Grace
Teachings: Paired with the Tiger at the 2nd Brown Belt level, the Crane is a "soft" discipline. It provides a necessary philosophical balance, tempering the violent, "hard" energy of the Tiger and keeping the practitioner's energy from becoming jaded or harsh.

7. The Eagle
Doctrines: Serenity and Insight
Teachings: Taught at the 3rd Brown Belt level, the Eagle represents quietude of mind and self-examination. Its techniques exhibit stunning fluid intricacy punctuated by sudden movements of compressed violence, much like an eagle swooping down to snatch prey.

8. The Viper
Doctrines: Speed and Accuracy
Teachings: Also taught at the 3rd Brown Belt level, the Viper is considered a "black art" cloaked in the shadow of death. It utilizes blinding initial speed and pinpoint accuracy to rapidly shut down an attacker by disrupting circulatory integrity and dislocating ch'i pathways in the acupuncture meridians.

9. The Phoenix
Doctrines: Creativity and Regeneration
Teachings: Taught at the Red Belt level, the Phoenix stitches tactical pieces together from other styles to create unpredictable, four-dimensional strategies. It allows the fighter to exist in a trance-like hyperspace to "absorb" attacks and creatively transmute movements from second to second.

10. The Mantis
Doctrines: Strategy and Patience
Teachings: Paired with the Phoenix at the Red Belt level, the Mantis relies on mental acuity and cognitive development. Mantis fighters are highly difficult to hit because they camouflage their intentions, sit patiently, and "phase" between distance zones to strike in a flash.

11. The Cobra
Doctrines: Subtleness and Endurance
Teachings: The Cobra utilizes sinuous, neurotoxically hypnotic katas designed to corrode and wear out the will of an opponent. Operating with low stances, tricky footwork, and mercuric, almost hallucinogenic movement, its "Yin" endurance strengthens the will of the martial artist while its "Yang" subtlety induces dark phobias in the attacker.

12. The Dragon
Doctrines: Continuity and Spontaneity
Teachings: The twelfth and final position, the Dragon represents a mystical elevation into transcendental expression unbound by time and space. Its flowing continuity (Yang) winds through and above material expression, while its spontaneous flame (Yin) morphs like clouds, cloaking strikes and kicks in a dazzling maze of motion. It is the absolute most advanced system, reserved only for the chosen few.
